Prom

Sandy sent this email to the family last week. I thought I would go ahead and use it with this post about Mitchell's prom.

"Since none of you have boys I thought I would share my experience (so far) with having a son preparing for prom:

*paper cups and tulips for the prom ask (cost $10.00)

*4 trips to Men's Wearhouse
-to get fitted and order the tux (cost $200.00)
-to pick out a vest to match the color of date's dress
-to pick up the tux
-to return the tux

*2 trips to the florist
-to order the corsage (cost $38.00)
-to pick up the corsage

*order prom tickets online (cost $35.00 x 2 = $70.00)

*write check to pay for party bus (cost $50.00)

So far we've spent $368.00 and that doesn't even include dinner yet.  Raising a gentleman sure is expensive!

I know that prom costs for girls can be high with all the nails, hair, jewelry, etc., but at least you can join in the excitement with them.  There isn't a lot of excitement with boys.  Mitchell actually said to me, "Mom, it turns out that prom is kind of a big deal".  Um...you think!

Boys...you gotta love em!!"

It was quite an event. They had breakfast after the prom at someone's house. The boys spent the night together. The next day, all of the boys and girls got together again for a day of sun and swimming.

Besides being expensive, proms have become weekend long events. Sounds like so much fun!!
