There oughtta' be a law...

prohibiting 2 1/2 hour commencement ceremonies! We went to New Orleans this past weekend (Butch, Sandy, Stephanie and me) for Mindy's graduation from Tulane. It was looong. Luckily, the speakers were pretty interesting. Brian Williams from NBC news was the keynote speaker. At least the diploma awarding ceremony was right at an hour.

We had a great time being together and certainly had our share of good food. Our favorite was Mindy's place of employment, The Commander's Palace. They treated us like royalty by giving us the best table in the house, sending treats from the chef, many people stopping by our table to introduce themselves (including the head chef), and treating us to a myriad of desserts (the bread pudding was the best). We had lunch at Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro, brunch at Brennan's and went to the Pelican Club for dinner on Saturday night and the Camelia Grill for breakfast on Sunday. Butch only mentioned the "B" word (bloated) once. He was such a good sport--didn't even complain about the expense. I must admit, my favorite thing about New Orleans is the food. You just can't get a bad meal there!

We stayed at a historic hotel---Le Pavillon. Since Central Parking handles their parking, they gave us the Presidential Suite---2 bedrooms, library, living room, dining room and entry. It was the most beautiful place---like someone's home. Too bad we didn't get to spend much time there.

Best of all, is seeing Mindy so happy in New Orleans. She just loves everything about New Orleans. Next time we go, I want to take a swamp tour, ghost tour of the Garden District and some of the plantation tours outside of the city.
Oh, we got some good news while we were down there_---Steph's house sold after being on the market for only 3 days!!!
